Prof Dietmar Wikarski

Prof. Dietmar Wikarski holds a Diploma in Mathematics from Donetsk National University and a Ph.D. in Mathematics (Stochastic processes) from Humboldt-University, Berlin.

He did research on performance and reliability evaluation of computer networks at the Berlin Academy of Sciences and was Head of Department at the Fraunhofer Institute (ISST). At ISST he invented a Petri-net-based modeling concept (Modular Process Nets) for an innovative workflow management system which he developed further as a scientist at the ICSI (International Computer Science Institute) of the UC Berkeley.
Since 1998 he has been working as Professor at Brandenburg University of Applied Science (TH Brandenburg) with the main areas of teaching and research Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), Systems Analysis, Mathematical Modelling, and Business Process Engineering.

Currently, Prof. Wikarski runs a DAAD-funded project for establishing a network of German Universities of Applied Sciences with Kenyan Universities to promote practice-oriented teaching.
He acts as scientific adviser to NotrufPlus Innovation GmbH and to Agrokenya NGO and is a member of several national and international conference program committees.
